Uber Acquires SpotHero to Expand Parking Services Within Its App Ecosystem
Uber Technologies Inc. is bolstering its mobility platform with the acquisition of SpotHero, a Chicago-based parking reservation app. The deal, expected to close in the first half of 2026 pending regulatory approval, will integrate SpotHero's network of 13,000+ parking locations across 400+ North American cities directly into Uber's app.
The strategic MOVE targets drivers who haven't fully transitioned to ride-hailing services. "SpotHero on the Uber app will make the experience easier than ever, and bring more people into the Uber ecosystem," said CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. Uber One members will eventually receive parking benefits through the integration.
This acquisition continues Uber's expansion beyond Core ride-sharing services, following previous moves into food delivery, freight, and micromobility. The parking integration could create new engagement opportunities while potentially reducing congestion through optimized parking solutions.
